Mini Bio

Azza A. Ahmed is a Professor of Mass Communication. She Joined Abu Dhabi University in 2011, as an Associate Professor. Before coming to ADU, she worked as Associate Professor of Broadcasting at Cairo University and as an Assistant Professor in the Mass Communication Department in the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) from 2003-2011.

Dr. Azza developed two Mass Communication Programs in English and Arabic for the College of Arts and Sciences at ADU. She received Khalifa Award for the Distinguished University Faculty in Teaching on Emirates and Arab World Levels for the academic year 2015-2016. In Addition, she got the distinguished Professor award, Al Ain Campus of ADU in 2013. She has various extra-curricular activities in teaching such as media exhibitions and students’ competitions to develop students’ media profession skills. She supervised many media campaigns serving UAE community.

Dr. Azza published over 17 researches in regional and international refereed journals published in USA, Canada and Egypt. Moreover, she participated in many international refereed conferences in UK, USA, Egypt, Bahrain, Singapore, Malaysia, China and Spain. She got international best research awards from AUSACE conference in Morocco 2006, Virginia 2008, Georgia State Universities in USA 2012, and Emirates Research Publisher in Paris 2016. She is an active member is many International Media associations such as the Arab-US Association for Media Educators.

Furthermore, she delivers several media workshops to senior journalists in Trayam Omran Center for Training and Development at Dar Al Khaleej in Emirates. She has many contributions in newspapers and TV programs in UAE. Dr. Azza received many appreciation awards form UAEU and ADU for her exceptional and excellent services to the university.

Dr. Azza is the vice president of Arab-US Association for Media Educators. She is the Arabic editor of the Journal of Middle East Media. She is a board member and serves as reviewer for journals such as Journalism & Mass Communication, Journal of New Media & Society; and conferences, such as AEJMC and ICA.
