    Program Mission

    The mission of the MBA program is to produce graduates who will be prepared to advance into top managerial positions in marketing, accounting, human resources and other departments in both private and public sectors of the economy.

  • Program Detail

    ADMISSION

    The admission requirements for the Master of Business Administration program include the following:

    • Candidates must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution, preferably achieving a 3.0/4.0 or higher overall grade point average.
    • TOEFL examination score of 550 or equivalent, or graduate of an English medium institution requiring a minimum of 500 TOEFL score or its equivalent for undergraduate admission.

    DEGREE REQUIREMENTS

    • Students must successfully complete all the course requirements-33 credit hours, as well as the other academic activities that are assigned to their specialized study plan.
    • For graduation purposes, the students’ cumulative GPA must be 3.0 or above.

    ACADEMIC LOAD

    The academic load for the Master of Business Administration program is outlined as follows:

    • The total program load is 33 credit hours.
    • Students who pursue the program on a part-time basis have up to three years to complete the degree requirements.
    • The total program load consists of 8 core courses and 3 elective courses (Upon completing these courses, students are awarded the Abu Dhabi University’s MBA Program.

    Professor Dr. Hussein Saber

    Professor of Operations Management

    Professor Saber received his Ph.D. in Operations Research from the University of Oklahoma. He is currently an Associate Dean of the College of Business Administration at Abu Dhabi University. Prior to joining Abu Dhabi University, has taught at North Carolina A&T State University, The University of Oklahoma, the University of Central Oklahoma and Sultan Qaboos University. His research interests are in the areas of Operations Management and Multi-Criteria Decision Making. He has published several articles in prestigious journals, including The International Journal of Management Science (Omega), Computers and Operations Research, Computers and Industrial Engineering, The Journal of Comparative International Management, Asia-Pacific Journal of Operational Research and Applied Mathematics and Computation.

    Dr. Sanjoy Bose

    Professor of Finance and Accounting

    Dr. Sanjoy Bose is the Professor of Finance and Accounting at Abu Dhabi University, Abu Dhabi UAE. Previously he taught at Zayed University and the New York Institute of Technology, both in UAE, and at the Graduate School of Management, La Trobe University, Melbourne, and Swinburne University, Melbourne. He has also visited and taught at McMaster University, Memphis State University, and Florida International University.

    He has worked in senior management positions in Europe, Asia and Australia. Professor Bose also has also extensive consulting experience in industry and commerce in Australia, China, and the UK.

    His extensive publication record and research interests are in the areas of Financial Valuations, Islamic Banking and Finance, Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility and the Strategic Management of Intellectual Capital.

    Dr. Stephen Blythe

    Professor of Accounting & Business Law

    Dr. Stephen Blythe became Professor of Accounting & Business Law at ADU in 2011. He earned a Ph.D. in Business Administration (Accounting, Management and Economics) at the University of Arkansas (USA) in 1979 and a Ph.D. in Computer Law at The University of Hong Kong (China) in 2010. He holds professional licenses in Law (Attorney at Law, Texas & Oklahoma) and Accounting (Certified Public Accountant, Texas). He also holds 4 law degrees and is a seasoned litigator. In Houston, Texas in the 1980s, he represented plaintiffs in employment-discrimination lawsuits based on: race, gender, sexual harassment, disability, age, national origin and religion. In Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in the 1990s, he was an attorney at Cheek Law Firm representing insurance companies in lawsuits pertinent to many types of insurance contracts, including: automobile, fire, maritime, products liability, medical malpractice, homeowners and personal injury.

    Before coming to ADU, he was a professor at several universities in the United States and in Morocco and Bahrain. He has taught almost every course in the Accounting curriculum, most of the courses in the Business Law and Management curricula, and Introductory and Managerial Economics. He is an expert in E-Commerce Law, Employment Law, Insurance Law and Legal Liability of Accountants and Auditors. He is the author of 3 books: E-Commerce Law around the World (2011), An E-Commerce Law for the World: The Model Electronic Transactions Act (2012), Certification Authority Law around the World (2013). Since 2005, he has published 35 refereed journal articles pertaining to E-Commerce Law and he is currently conducting research and writing journal articles relating to legal liability of accountants and auditors.

    Dr. Christopher Dixon

    Associate Professor of Management

    Dr Christopher Dixon is an Associate Professor in Human Resource Management with the College of Business Administration of Abu Dhabi University. He has 30 years of international experience in the petroleum, gas, continuous process and related energy business in the capacity of line manager and consultant. He has conducted training courses in the public sector including the Hong Kong Police and Civil Service, and he has worked in 9 countries in Europe, the Arabian Peninsula and Asia Pacific regions. He obtained his Ph.D. from the City University Hong Kong where he researched issues of Organization Development and Learning. As an academic and trainer he is experienced in teaching and facilitating management courses and leading teams to lead themselves as they transfer their skills from the training environment to the workplace.

    As I teach in the MBA program, I help my students turn theory into practice as we discuss the concepts and issues facing businesses. My courses are challenging and have many learning opportunities for post graduate students wanting to influence today’s decisions.

    Dr. Hossam Abu Elanain

    Associate Professor of Management

    Dr. Abu Elanain earned his Ph.D. from Loughborough University (UK). Prior to joining Abu Dhabi University, he was the Chair of the Management Department at the University of Dubai. He is a member in the Society for Advancement Management (SAM) and the European Academy of Management (EURAM). He joined the College of Business Administration at Abu Dhabi University as an Associate Professor of Management in 2009. His teaching interests cover a wide spectrum of Management issues which are backed up by the in-depth research he has done in this field. His research papers have been published in international refereed journals and he participated and presented his papers at several international conferences.

    Dr. Frederick “Bob” Buchanan

    Associate Professor of Management

    Dr. Bob Buchanan is an Associate Professor of Management in the College of Business Administration at Abu Dhabi University. His HR experience was as a Staffing Manager with Robert Half International in their Dallas, Texas operations. He also did on-site technical training on offshore oil & gas operations in Middle East, Asia, and North & South America. Dr. Buchanan has a finance degree, MBA, and earned a Ph.D. in Human Resource Management from the University of Texas at Arlington. He has research publications on topics of gender, diversity, and global competitiveness. In addition to his regular teaching, Dr. Buchanan presents regularly at academic conferences, and teaches classes in France and Vietnam.

    Dr. Kamarul Zaman Ahmad

    Associate Professor of Management

    Dr. Kamarul Zaman Ahmad is an Associate Professor of Management at the College of Business Administration, Abu Dhabi University, UAE. He holds five degrees: BA (Hons) Law, Bar-at-Law, MBA, Grad ICSA and Ph.D. Dr. Kamarul Zaman obtained his Ph.D. from the Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, UK.

    He teaches Organisational Behaviour, Human Resource Management and Research Methods in the Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Human Resource Management (MHRM), and Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programs at the College of Business. His teaching and research interests are in the areas of Organisational Behaviour and Human Resources Management. More specifically, he specializes in person-environment fit and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP).

    Prior to joining Abu Dhabi University, he had taught at the University Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for 10 years, where he also was the Deputy Dean at the Faculty of Business & Accountancy. Dr. Kamarul Zaman has extensive lecturing experience with many UK and Australian MBA programs held in Malaysia. He practiced law in Kuala Lumpur for eleven years. He has vast experience in the corporate world and has conducted consultancies and training courses in Malaysia and the UK. Dr. Kamarul Zama is also a certified corporate trainer.

    Dr. Mohammed Ismail El-Adly

    Associate Professor of Marketing

    Dr. Mohammed Ismail El-Adly is an Associate Professor of Marketing and Marketing Discipline Coordinator at the College of Business at Abu Dhabi University. He earned his Ph.D, in Marketing at Cairo University with a co-supervision from Huddersfield University’s Business School in England. Prior to joining Abu Dhabi University, he worked at Cairo University for more than 15 years and at the UAE University for 10 years. His main research interests are consumer behavior, retailing, and market segmentation. He published many articles in marketing in international and regional journals. His work has appeared in the Facilities Journal, International Journal of Retail & Distribution Management, International Journal of Business and Social Science, Journal of Economics and administrative Sciences, and Arab Journal of Administrative Sciences.

I used to give them in class exercises and company cases related to the topic and divide students into groups to solve the exercise or the company case questions and discuss their answers with other groups.”

    Dr. Saeed Askary

    Associate Professor of Accounting

    Dr. Saeed Askary completed his Ph.D. at the University of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. His dissertation work focused on the role of culture in international accounting practices in developing countries. Since joining ADU in 2007, he has served as Assistant and Associate Professor of Accounting in the College of Business Administration. He has been actively carrying out research throughout this period and is the first ADU faculty member to be granted the Faculty Research Award.

    In 2007, one of Dr Askary’s research publications has won the Top Ten Articles Merit Award from the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), the top international accounting organization in the world. This paper was also published in the Australian Accounting Review. Dr. Askary’s meritorious works have been published in more than ten top international referral journals. Dr. Askary has also attended a number of top international conferences in his field.

    He is currently collaborating with prominent researchers at the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia on topics related to Marketing of Islamic Finance. This research stream has the goal of contributing to the already booming Islamic Finance industry in the UAE, GCC, and across the globe. Due to his success and experience in research, he was recently named Chair of the COBA Research Committee.

    Dr Sanjay Kumar Singh

    Associate Professor of Management

    Dr. Sanjay Kumar Singh has Doctoral degree in Organizational Psychology from University of Delhi, Delhi, India. He has approximately fourteen years of work experience. Dr. Singh is Associate Professor of Management, College of Business Administration, Abu Dhabi University, Abu Dhabi, UAE since 2012.

    Dr. Singh has research interest in the areas of Emotional Intelligence, Organizational Learning, Knowledge Management, and Organizational Culture & Leadership. He has published 5 Edited Books in the area of Management, 7 book chapters, and 27 research papers in national & international refereed journals. He has successfully organized several national and international research conferences. Dr. Singh is a member of the editorial board of International Journal of Organizational Analysis (an Emerald Publication). Dr. Singh has been given membership of Consortium for Research on Emotional Intelligence, Boston, USA for his significant research contribution in the field of Emotional Intelligence. Dr. Singh is the guest editor of special issue of International Journal of Organizational Analysis, Emerald Publication.

    Dr. Singh teaches Organizational Behavior, Organization Development, Human Resource Management, Leadership in Organizations, Cross-Cultural Management, Competency Mapping & Assessment Centers, Compensation Management, Qualitative Research and Psychological Testing. Dr. Singh was visiting faculty in the Graduate School of Business, Chonnam National University, Korea, where he taught Leadership in Organizations.

    On the service side, Dr. Singh is currently a member of two committees at the College of Business Administration: DBA Committee and Faculty Evaluation & Development Committee. In his previous institution, Dr. Singh successfully looked after the Student Affairs portfolio as Chairperson for five continuous academic years (2006-2011), was a member of the Post Graduate Program Committee (2007-2010) and a member of the Research & Doctoral Program Committee (2010-2011).

    Dr. Syed Zamberi Ahmad

    Associate Professor of Management

    Associate Professor Dr. Syed Zamberi Ahmad holds a Ph.D from the Hull University of Business School (HUBS), United Kingdom. His research interests include firm evolution and growth strategies including alliance, market entry and internationalization strategies of SMEs and multinational firms. His research interests also lie in the areas of Entrepreneurial Management, Entrepreneurship Education and Small Business Strategies. He is an active researcher, published several books and has accumulated more than 60 publications in reputable academic journals and proceedings of major national and international conferences. Dr. Ahmad’s work has also appeared in numerous high quality international journals including the Asia-Pacific Journal of Business Administration; Transforming Government: People, Process and Policy, Education + Training, International Journal of Gender and Entrepreneurship; International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Small Business; and many more. He is also serving on the editorial board and external reviewer of a number of international academic journals. He is currently an Associate Professor of International Business and Entrepreneurship Management at Abu Dhabi University, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Prior to entering academia, Dr. Ahmad’s had several years’ industrial experience in the Treasury and International Banking Division of several reputable banks in Malaysia. Before joining University of Abu Dhabi, Dr. Ahmad served as an Assistant Professor in several universities in Malaysia, Yemen, and Saudi Arabia, and this has giving him first-hand knowledge of International Business and Cross-Cultural Entrepreneurship Management.

    Dr. Cherine Abdel All El Kaftangui

    Assistant Professor of Accounting

    Dr. Cherine has received her BBA in Accounting (with Honors) from King Saoud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 1992, and an MBA from Post Graduate Studies at the Arab Academy for Science and Technology, Alexandria, Egypt, in 1999. She obtained her PhD from London Metropolitan University, UK, in 2006.

    She joined the faculty of the College of Business Administration at Abu Dhabi University in the Fall of 2007. Prior to joining ADU, she worked an Assistant Professor in London School of Economics in UK and at the Arab Academy for Science and Technology, Alexandria, Egypt. She has been teaching postgraduate Accounting courses since 1995. Dr. Cherine was a corporate trainer in Accounting and Management to many organizations worldwide. She relies on the latest advancements in teaching methods and teaching technologies in her classes. She received ADU’s Teaching Award in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.

    Dr. Cherine service record included serving as the head of many committees (Student Engagement, Recruitment, Assurance of Learning, Curriculum, Registration, etc.) in universities in UK, Egypt, and ADU. She is also the director of Sheikha Latifa Scholarship at ADU. She served as an Accounting Department Chair and is currently the Accounting Discipline Coordinator at the College of Business.

    She received best paper awards in different international conferences. Currently, she is the Director of Undergraduate Student Research at ADU.

    Chowdhury Golam Hossan

    Assistant Professor of Management

    Chowdhury G Hossan was born in Bangladesh. He has obtained BBA and MBA in Management from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2000 and 2002 respectively. He has received Master in E-Business Management from International University of Japan in 2004. He has earned his PhD in Management from La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia in 2010.

    He is working as an Assistant Professor of Management at the College of Business Administration, Abu Dhabi University, UAE. Previously, he served as a faculty member of Management at the School of Management, La Trobe University, Australia, Ballarat University, Australia, Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia, and at the East West University, Bangladesh. He also worked as an E-commerce consultant for Peoplink, MD, USA and fellow for Mobile Government Consortium, Brighton, United Kingdom.

    His research interest includes Attitude and Productivity, eGovernment, and Entrepreneurship. Dr Hossan’s several research articles on eGovernment and Management have been published in prestigious national and international journals and conferences proceedings. He has received several research grants. He is currently serving as a PhD examiner for New Castle University, Australia. He is also supervising several doctoral candidates in Abu Dhabi University, UAE. He is also reviewer for several international journals and conferences.     Dr. Fauzia Jabeen

    Assistant Professor of Management

    Dr. Fauzia Jabeen holds a PhD in Management and has substantial academic and industry experience in the UAE. Her teaching and research interests pertain to Women Entrepreneurship & SMEs, Strategic Management, Corporate Social Responsibility and Emiratization. Her works have been published in key journals in Business Management, and disseminated via international conferences and professional seminars. However, among the number of activities that she has undertaken, she derives utmost satisfaction in education and mentoring which has resulted in strong placements of her students at all levels.

    “My teaching philosophy reflects my interests in collaborative authorship. Instead of the ‘full frontal teaching’ method of large lectures or highly structure seminars, I prefer student-centered teaching that encourages learning by both students and teachers. I favor classroom dynamics that permit dialogue and foster student input as to the curricula and grading criteria. And I like students to think about the class as a community.”

    Dr. Haitham Nobanee

    Assistant Professor of Finance

    Dr. Haitham Nobanee is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the College of Business Administration, Abu Dhabi University, UAE. He received his doctorate degree from the University of Manchester, UK. He is an author of numerous publications in international refereed journals. He has also served as an editor, associate editor, guest editor, and a member of editorial board for various international journals. He is also a reviewer of many international journals, such as Journal of Empirical Finance, Journal of Business Research, and Applied Economic Series. He also presented papers and served in numerous international conferences as editor of conference proceedings, track chair, reviewer and discussant of conference papers. He has won the best reviewer award of Applied Economic Series for the year 2011. His research interests include working capital management, and stock market microstructure.

    Dr. Konstantinos Eleftheriou

    Assistant Professor of Economics

    Dr. Konstantinos Eleftheriou is an Assistant Professor of Economics in the College of Business Administration at Abu Dhabi University. Prior to joining Abu Dhabi University, he served as a part-time lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of Piraeus (Greece). He obtained M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Economics from University of Essex (UK) and B.Sc. in Economics from University of Athens (Greece). His research interests lie in the area of Labor and Public Economics. His most recent publications have appeared in Economic Modeling, Regional Science Policy & Practice and Economics Bulletin.

    Dr. Nejla Ould Daoud Ellili

    Assistant Professor of Finance

    Nejla Ould Daoud Ellili is an Assistant Professor of Finance in the College of Business Administration at Abu Dhabi University, where she has been since 2009. She also serves as a Program Coordinator of Finance and Economics from November 2011. She received her Ph.D and MBA in Finance from the Institut Superieur de Gestion de Tunis, in 2007 and 2001 respectively, and B.S in Banking Management from the Ecole Superieure de Commerce de Tunis in 1999. She worked as a lecturer from 2001 to 2004 at the Ecole Superieure de Commerce de Tunis and from 2006 to 2007 in the College of Business Administration at Sharjah University.

    Her teaching interests are in Corporate Finance, Financial statements Analysis, Investment and Finance Policy and her research interests are in Ownership Structure, Financial Policy, Capital Structure, and Performance Evaluation. She published many papers in prestigious journals and participated in several international conferences.

    In 2011 she received ADU’s Teaching Award for her outstanding teaching effort at the College of Business Administration.

    Dr. Nilesh Khare

    Assistant Professor of Management

    Dr. Khare is a professional turned academician, corporate trainer and consultant. He understands the strengths and weaknesses of the real professional world and academics. He is passionate about bringing the two worlds together where their complementary strengths can create significant corporate value.

    He advises on strategy formulation, evaluation, and implementation, and conducts corporate management development programs focused on strategic management areas. He had about 10 years of professional consulting experience prior to starting PhD in 2004. Primarily, he was associated with international management consulting firms, such as PwC and the Henley Center in India, and with KPMG in India and South Africa, on assignments related to business feasibility, business planning, scenario planning, restructuring and process innovation.

    He teaches Business and Corporate Strategy, International Business Strategy, and Strategic Change and Innovation Management courses at MBA and undergraduate levels. Over the last 6 years, he has taught in Dubai and USA.

    He has consistently presented his research at the most prestigious international conferences in his field. His research in Strategic Management area focuses on clarifying and integrating theories that inform firms’ boundary decisions. These decisions are related to issues such as vertical integration, outsourcing, off-shoring, strategic alliances and diversification. In addition to that, he also conducts research examining boundary choices of public, commercial, quasi-commercial, and NGO organizations in the context of poverty alleviation and public services. In particular, his work focuses on Microfinance context.

    He earned his Ph.D. from Fisher College of Business, the Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, USA, and MBA (Finance and Marketing), CFA, and BE (Electronics and Telecommunication) in India.

    • What are the admission requirements?

      Our regular admission requirements are as follows:

      1. Bachelor’s Degree recognized by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
      2. Undergraduate CGPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
      3. English score of at least 550 in paper-based TOEFL (213 in CBT or 79 in IBT) or 6.0 in IELTS.

      Promising applicants not meeting the above requirements might be granted conditional admission on a case-by-case basis subject to their meeting the following:

      1. Students with undergraduate CGPA between 2.0 and 2.99 can register for a maximum of 9 credit hours in the first semester, and must achieve a GPA of at least 3.0 in that semester.
      2. Students with TOEFL score between 530 and 549 can register for a maximum of 6 credit hours in the first semester along with intensive English and must achieve the TOEFL score of 550 and a GPA of at least 3.0 by the end of that semester.

  • Admission Requirements

    These courses can be chosen from set of courses in the major apart from the above courses (9 credits) and from any other program at the University for which you meet the entry requirements (9 credits). Alternatively, you can choose a Minor (6 courses) in a specialization other than English.
