Transfer Students Admission

 
 
 
 

Transfer credits may be applied towards a postgraduate degree if the following conditions are met:

  1. The credits have been earned at the postgraduate level from a federal or licensed institution in the UAE or a recognized foreign institution of higher learning,
  2. Only a student who is in good academic standing (CGPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent) is eligible for transfer to an ADU postgraduate program of study similar to that from which the student is transferring.
  3. The student has received grades of at least B for core and pre-core course(s), and the coursework is deemed comparable to what is required in the specific degree program.
  4. Credit transfer will not be granted twice for substantially the same course taken at two different institutions.
  5. The course credit hours to be transferred are equal to or higher than the credit hours of ADU courses,
  6. Transfer credits may be given for equivalent ADU courses when , in the opinion of the appropriate Dean and Professors, the learning outcomes of the proposed transfer courses and the level of study are deemed equivalent to that of ADU’s course(s).

Postgraduate students may apply for credit transfer for courses taken prior to joining ADU once only when they first apply for admission to ADU. Courses taught in English language only may be transferred to ADU. Credit should not be counted twice towards awards. Therefore, credit cannot be transferred from a Master degree that the student has already achieved to the one he/she is planning to pursue.

The maximum approved transfer credits that may be applied towards a postgraduate degree program must not exceed 50% of the total credit hours. Credits earned for thesis work cannot be transferred. All proposed transfer credits must be approved by the respective Dean and Program Director and then communicated to the student.

The academic residency requirement for all ADU masters programs is a minimum of two academic semesters.

Documents required for transfer postgraduate applications:

  • Official and certified transcripts from other universities for Postgraduate Admission or/and credit transfer
  • Official course syllabus must be provided in English for the course needs to be transferred
  • If the original documents are in any language other than English, they must be translated and attested by the home Ministry of Education, Foreign Affairs, and the UAE Embassy
