Student Services

The Academic and Student Services Department works in partnership with other ADU departments and external stakeholders to develop and deliver student-centered services across the student lifecycle. Focussing on the student as our key customer, the department's core strategy is to remove barriers to learning and enhance the student experience.

Alumni & Career Services

Alumni and Career Services are planned for helping students and alumni in developing, evaluating, and/or implementing employment plans by offering professional skills training and workshops, job search skills, career advising and guidance, liaison meetings and discussions with employers.

1. Internship offers students an organized and supervised career-related professional experience. Academic credits are awarded for the learning acquired through their work experience, depending upon their performance evaluation. Internships are administered using well-planned syllabi and work plans during the period of training, which are supervised by site-supervisors and college-supervisors.
2. The Job Placement Services Department offers postings for part-time and permanent positions on the ADU website, and publishes job placement bulletins as well as job search information. An annual career and recruitment fair is organized and support for newly employed graduates for the first three months after graduation is offered.

Also, student counselors at ADU are committed to offering workshops to enhance the students, both personally and academically, by offering assistance and workshops on topics such as time management, study skills, stress management, improving self esteem, communication skills and much more.

Technology & Resources

We understand that information technology resources and systems are essential components in higher education. ADU is dedicated to incorporating technological advances in support of the planning functions, educational programs, and administrative support services. The information technology resources include computer hardware and software, databases and communication networks, as well as trained technical and user services staff.

A high speed network connects all of the university's computers with the internet, electronic mail, and remote login and file transfer facilities accessible to all educational institutions and other organizations throughout the world. The general infrastructure in the labs includes student workstations, an instructor workstation, laptop connectivity, scanners, printers, data projectors, slide projectors, CD/DVD writers, digital cameras, and audio and video equipment.

Computer Labs

Computer Labs at ADU are well-equipped with the latest technological hardware and software that provides for word processing, spreadsheets, desktop publishing, programming software, database packages, graphics software, language learning software and other packages for course-specific offerings. Extensive documentation of packages, containing the complete online documentation, installation kits and advice are also available.

Internet Labs

ADU provides labs for group study and PC workstations that are dedicated to providing fast and reliable access to the Internet and e-mail. These workstations are connected to the campus data network, providing access to file servers, the electronic mail hosts, and the Internet.

CALL Labs

The Computer Assisted Language Learning Labs (CALL Labs) serve as both a classroom and an open-access lab for students.

The CALL Labs mission is to assist ADU students with their study of English as a foreign language. The CALL Lab provides the following resources:

  • A Variety of Resources for Individual Study.
  • Tutorial Resources and Testing Center.
  • Support for Faculty and Technology Assisted Curriculum Development.

Health Services

ADU provides access to a full range of confidential, high quality primary health care services for students and other members of the ADU community. Our health services will accommodate all student, faculty and staff emergencies during office hours. When the university health service is closed, students with serious medical emergencies are advised to go to the nearest Emergency Department. We are accepting patients on a walk-in or appointment basis, although priority will be given to patients with appointments.

Student Transportation

The Abu Dhabi University Transportation Service has been established to offer and maintain a safe and orderly environment for travellers to and from ADU campuses. ADU provides transportation to make the lives of its students easier. Students will be picked-up and dropped-off at designated areas around the city. Transportation also will be provided for field trips and other outside activities, as well as between campuses.

Bookshop

The Abu Dhabi University Bookstore stocks all required texts that faculty wish students to read for their courses. Textbooks are ordered directly from the publisher or from textbook wholesalers.

Abu Dhabi University Bookstore is dedicated to providing textbooks on time, combining service with value pricing. Constantly striving to supply what the consumer is asking for, Abu Dhabi University Bookstore will continually review what is available in the marketplace, improving on what is available and providing new products and services as needed.

Publications

University publications produced by the Department of Marketing and Communication, service the needs of a diverse audience including external news media outlets, graduates, internal staff and students; and government authorities.

ADU publishes periodic newsletters featuring valuable information and articles about all events on campus. The newsletter is also a source of information on career planning, resume preparation, job search tips and interview techniques. The newsletter also advertises upcoming events and activities scheduled to take place throughout the academic year. Students at ADU are encouraged to start their own publications.
