Academic Integrity and the Responsibilities of Faculty and Staff

 
 
 
 

Certain standards of conduct are expected of all Abu Dhabi University employees. These standards of conduct are consistent with the professional standards of Abu Dhabi University, the culture and values of the UAE, and the applicable laws. The responsibility of faculty and staff in the area of academic integrity is multifaceted. Both faculty and staff at Abu Dhabi University are expected to foster a climate of teaching, learning, research, and academic services in an environment enriched by the highest standard of ethical conduct. Faculty and staff are also expected to serve as the role models by conducting themselves beyond reproach. Specifically, they are to:

  • Uphold the Code of Honor
  • Support strategies for the successful implementation of Academic Integrity Policy (AIP)
  • Provide exemplary conduct in accordance with the highest standard of ethics
  • Explain to students the Academic Integrity Policy, its provisions, and the Code of Honor
  • Pay special attention to the violations of academic integrity such as cheating and plagiarism
  • Explain to students the expectations regarding examinations protocols and completing assignments
  • Conduct careful proctoring of examinations
  • Articulate the expectations of full-participation of students in any team assignments and/or team projects
  • Direct students to access resources provided by OAI and Colleges to ensure academic honesty
  • Report to OAI all violations and suspected incidents of academic dishonesty
