Academic Outcomes
Upon completion of the ELI program, students will be able to perform the following:
Listening and speaking
Listen to and understand academic lectures of the types that students will encounter in their university programs; take notes; participate in discussions regarding the lectures; and make simple, but clear oral presentations on instructionally related topics.
Reading
Read and understand academic texts of the type that student will encounter in your university programs; take notes; and participate in discussions regarding the text. Make effective use of dictionaries as study tools for comprehension and pronunciation of English.
Writing
Write well-developed coherent paragraphs and essays of the types required in their university programs.
Research Skills
Use library resources; summarize ideas and key points; critically analyze and compare; decide on appropriate formats for presentation both in speaking and writing.
