All application forms and supplementary information can be obtained from the Office of Student Recruitment and Admission. Applications for admission should be submitted by the date set by the Office of Student Recruitment and Admission.

Eligibility:

For entry into the Bridge Program a student must:

  • Be a national or non national student who obtained the United Arab Emirates National High School certificate.
  • Have achieved a high school average of 48% to 59.9%;


Bridge Program Admission Documentation:

The following documents will be required during admission:

  1. A fully completed application form.
  2. A certified copy of the National High School Certificate Scores.
  3. Six (6) passport-sized photographs.
  4. A copy of a valid passport.
  5. A copy of residency visa (if applicable).
  6. Medical Examination Clearance form.
  7. Official copy of a valid TOEFL or IELTS scores report, if available.
  8. Certificate of Good Conduct from the Police Department for United Arab Emirates Nationals and resident students.


Once an application and the required documents are submitted, a response will be provided no later than one week from the date the application is received.

Language Proficiency:

All students applying to this program will need to take either the TOEFL or IELTS English proficiency tests. The TOEFL or IELTS results should have been taken no more than two years prior to admission to the Bridge Program. Students who have not achieved a minimum TOEFL score of 400 (or IELTS 4.0) will be required to complete the English Communication I course prior to taking any other courses in the Bridge Program.

Transfer of Credits:

  • Students may not transfer credits hours to the Bridge Program.

University Credits:

  • College credits are not given for the Bridge Program, but a Certificate of Completion will be given when the student has passed all the requirements of the program.
  • Students in the Bridge Program are not allowed to take any university college credit courses.

Challenge Exams:

Students may test out of any course in the Bridge Program, by taking and passing the appropriate pre-test.

Testing Out Requirements:

  • English Communications I– Academic IELTS 4.0 or iBT score of 32 (TOEFL 400 )
  • English Communications II – Academic IELTS 5.0 or iBT score of 61 (TOEFL 500)[1]
  • Arabic Communications – In house pre-test
  • Mathematics I or Mathematics II – In house pre-test
  • Information Technology – In house pre-test
  • Biology - In house pre-test

Readmission:

Former students, whose enrolment at Abu Dhabi University Bridge Program has been voluntarily or involuntarily interrupted/ stopped, including academic suspension or dismissal, must petition the Office of Student Recruitment and Admissions in writing for readmission to the Bridge Program. A committee comprised of the Provost, Program Manager of the Bridge Program, Admission Associate Director, and Registrar/ Director of Student Services will look into the request and make a decision on a case by case basis. Readmission does not mean automatic transfer of components taken at The Bridge Program. Students must present evidence proving that all conditions for readmission have been fulfilled. Students will not need to take components where pre-tests have been passed. The request for readmission must include reasons for leaving Abu Dhabi University and reasons for returning. All requests must include current contact information and the semester for which readmission is being requested. If a student is readmitted, his/her account will be reactivated.

Student’s transcripts and course syllabi will be sent to the Manager of the Bridge Program for reevaluation. In some cases, an interview with the student may be required.

Any student who withdraws from The Bridge Program for reasons of illness must have medical approval from the attending doctor prior to readmission. Any student who applies for readmission must be cleared by the Finance Department at Abu Dhabi University before a decision is made.

Upon withdrawal, students must know and understand that readmission is not certain and is contingent upon a comprehensive reevaluation of the student petition.

Orientation Program:

The Office of Student Recruitment and Admissions will offer an orientation program for new students who are admitted to the Abu Dhabi University Bridge Program for Spring/Fall Semester. Students attending the orientation program will:

  1. Gain important information about academic life at Abu Dhabi University and how to register for classes,
  2. Become familiar with resources on campus,
  3. Meet other new students and make friends,
  4. Meet Abu Dhabi University faculty, staff, and administrators,
  5. Preview important program issues,
  6. Get questions answered about campus life,
  7. Tour the Abu Dhabi University campus and its facilities, and
  8. Get help to adjust to the new environment.
  9. Pre-Test testing time will be arranged at this time.

Students will be encouraged to attend the orientation program to avoid missing valuable information that could adversely affect their success at the University.

Admission into Abu Dhabi University Undergraduate (UG) programs:

Students who successfully complete the Bridge program may apply to the undergraduate programs by completing and submitting the UG application form and paying a non-refundable application fee.

They will be eligible to join undergraduate programs as follows:

  1. Students with an iBT TOEFL score of 61 (TOEFL 500) or Academic IELTS score of 5:
    1. May be conditionally admitted into University College.
    2. Will have to have to complete a minimum of 24 semester credit hours of University requirements courses with a GPA of at least 2.00 (Refer to the Undergraduate Admission Policy) prior to receiving regular admission.
  2. Students who successfully complete the Bridge program with an iBT TOEFL score of 32 (TOEFL 400) or Academic IELTS score of 4:
    1. May be conditionally admitted into undergraduate programs where the medium of instruction is Arabic.
    2. Will have to have to complete a minimum of 24 semester credit hours of University requirements courses with a GPA of at least 2.00 (Refer to the Undergraduate Admission Policy) prior to receiving regular admission.
