Hailing from Purdue University, Calumet, USA with 33 years of academic experience, Dr. Nabil Ibrahim was appointed Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University (ADU) on December 2007. Occupying this pivotal and challenging position, Dr. Ibrahim is a very valuable asset to ADU as he is a senior academic professional with advanced qualifications and has made remarkable contributions to Higher Education and Academic Leadership.

His 33 years of academic experience consists of assuming diverse roles and holding some important titles in various institutes such as San Jose State University, Bradley University, University of Manitoba, as well as Purdue, where he served as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. In his five years as Purdue Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Ibrahim has demonstrated outstanding leadership in directing or otherwise playing a key contributing role to noteworthy Purdue advancements in areas of academic quality, student success, faculty development, curriculum innovation, as well as making significant contributions to community and regional economic development, according to Howard Cohen, a chancellor from Purdue University.

Throughout his career, Dr. Ibrahim has attracted over $20 Million in research & development grants, served as principal investigator to some 35 technical projects, produced 57 publications & conference presentations, developed a number of laboratories and produced numerous student theses. In addition, he holds two US patents in Advanced Materials Engineering. Dr. Ibrahim received his BS Degree in Engineering from Cairo University and his PhD from McMaster University in Canada.
