Dr. Thomas Davies has been the Executive Director of Institutional Research and Strategy at Abu Dhabi University since September of 2007. He is responsible for developing the Institutional Research function and leading the strategic planning and performance tracking efforts of the University. His unusual combination of faculty, academic administration, learning outcomes assessment, institutional accreditation, institutional research, strategy, entrepreneurship and systems development experience make him uniquely qualified for this role.

His previous experience includes seven years as Director of Institutional Research and Planning at Zayed University where he played a key role in preparing that University for its successful pursuit of institutional accreditation with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The two prior years were spent helping to startup Zayed University, first as a member of the startup team and then as Head of the IT Math and Science unit. He also spent 6 years as a faculty member in the Faculty of Administration at the University of New Brunswick in Canada teaching management information systems and integrative courses at the undergraduate and master’s level. Before embarking on an academic career he also spent time as an entrepreneur and five years designing and developing administrative information systems for the Canadian Department of National Defence.

Dr. Davies holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario in Canada. He also has an MBA from the Richard Ivey Business School and a BSc in Computer Science from the University of New Brunswick.
