Vision
To make Abu Dhabi University a research-oriented comprehensive university recognized nationally and regionally as a leader in solving applied problems and assisting in shaping the economic, social and cultural future of the UAE and the region. Abu Dhabi University is to become the prominent university and the destination of choice for professional graduate education in the UAE and the region.
Mission
The mission of the College of Research and Graduates Studies drives from the Abu Dhabi University's primary mission which is to be a leader in professional graduate education in the UAE and in the region. The mission of College of Research and Graduates Studies is to develop technically skilled, entrepreneurial, and lifelong learners who will be leading citizens proactively committed to improve the quality of life. The College of Research and Graduates Studies will expand pathways for further higher education. It will foster the development of new graduate programs, including doctoral education, in a broad spectrum of disciplinary and cross-disciplinary professions aligned with the needs and demands of Abu Dhabi, UAE, the Arab world and the Middle East. This mission will be achieved through contribution of high caliber faculty and collaboration with carefully selected international network of scholars dedicated to the pursuit of excellence and public service.
The focal point of the mission is the commitment of the college to excel in selected strategic areas of applied research and innovative scholarly pursuits compatible with the socio-economic needs of the UAE, and the Arab world. The multi-disciplinarily and theme-based research is another focal point of the mission. In pursuit of this commitment and to address today’s and tomorrows pivotal issues for the UAE, College of Research and Graduates Studies will seek strong partnerships with the scientific, corporate, and government agencies in a variety of areas, including identification of strategic areas of research. Attracting research funds will be another important domain of interest to be pursued in this area.
In achieving its mission, College of Research and Graduates Studies provides, nurtures, and supports research activities of Abu Dhabi University faculty. Assistance with grant proposal development, submission, and follow-up are integral roles in achieving the mission. Using a multi-front approach, the College of Research and Graduates Studies is determined to produce new applied knowledge and disseminate the results to the communities it serves. The College of Research and Graduates Studies is also committed to integrate research with teaching and will play an important role in the development of undergraduate research which is an investment in the future of graduate education. This investment will allow talented undergraduate students to learn about exploration, discovery, creation, innovation, advancement to continue their studies, and it will play a greater role in building a brighter future in the UAE and the region.
In sum, the research agenda of the college aims to boost Abu Dhabi University’s reputation to be one of the top-ranked research-intensive universities in the region. This stature will make Abu Dhabi University a comprehensive university proactively engaged and responsive to solving complex economic, social, and cultural national and regional problems with practical emphasis on enhancing their global competitiveness in a sustainable manner.
