KHALIFA FUND AND ABU DHABI UNIVERSITY (ADU) AGREE TO PARTNER

Khalifa Fund and Abu Dhabi University (ADU) Agree to partner in developing an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre.

Abu Dhabi (July 5th 2010): ADU signed a memorandum of understanding with the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development to initiate a partnership in developing the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at ADU. This project aims at promoting the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the emirate. This memorandum of understanding also establishes a framework for continuous collaboration between ADU and the Khalifa Fund, aimed at cooperation between the two entities in different fields, especially in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship in the Abu Dhabi community

The MoU was signed by Dr. Nabil Ibrahim Nabil Ibrahim, ADU’s Chancellor, and Mr. Ibrahim Al Mansoori, the Deputy CEO of Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development

Dr. Nabil Ibrahim Chancellor of ADU said: “ The ADU is committed to participate in realizing the Abu Dhabi economic vision 2030, by promoting and fostering the culture of entrepreneurship and to support highly skilled graduates to start their own technology based SEM’s. With this vision we have adopted the initiative to start the Innovation and entrepreneurship Center at ADU.”

He added, “The cooperation between Abu Dhabi University and Khalifa Fund is not envisaged as a short-term partnership, but rather that it will endure in the form of a wide variety of collaborative projects and initiatives. Furthermore, this memorandum is a continuation of the already existing collaboration between the two constitutions.”

Mr. Ibrahim Al Mansoori, the Deputy CEO of the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, said that the Khalifa Fund aims to promote a culture of entrepreneurship and to encourage innovative startups in the society. This can be best done as the fund helps creating a new generation of business leaders who would be able to actively encourage and support the overall economic development in Abu Dhabi under its supportive leadership.

Mr. Al Mansoori added that the Khalifa Fund utilizes a variety of mechanisms and encourages a number of initiatives that encourage innovation and entrepreneurship. The fund takes the social background of students into consideration in order to address and encourage development amongst those most worthy of support. He said that the Khalifa Fund will work on developing the abilities of students and their respective talents, and help them apply these to the benefit of society.

Mr. Al Mansoori pointed out the Fund’s commitment to collaboration with different institutions, along with government and private organizations in Abu Dhabi, to establish a model environment for business leaders in the country.
