SUMMER COURSES COMMENCE AT ABU DHABI UNIVERSITY

2,393 undergraduate and postgraduate students commenced their studies earlier this week, following the start of Abu Dhabi University’s summer semester courses for the academic year 2011-2012. Offered on the University’s Abu Dhabi and Al Ain campuses, the summer semester courses will run till 16th August.

Dr. Nabil Ibrahim Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University expressed the University’s keenness in organizing the summer semester for the eighth consecutive year since the imitative was launched in 2004. “The summer courses were initially launched in response to the numerous requests we received from our students. Over the years, it has proved to be a great opportunity for students who are eager to reduce their study load for the upcoming semester, or work on increasing their cumulative GPAs and complete the number of courses they need in order to graduate”, added Dr. Nabil.

“To cater to this year’s growth in demand for summer semester courses, the University has allocated 213 classes for undergraduate program courses, and 25 classes for postgraduate program courses on Abu Dhabi campus. In addition to 81 classes for undergraduate program courses and 6 classes for postgraduate program courses on Al Ain campus”, said Dr. Nabil.

Dr. Nabil lauded the efforts of Abu Dhabi University’s staff and faculty in organizing the summer semester. He pointed out that many of the University’s esteemed faculty members preferred to reduce the duration of their summer vacations, in order to participate in the University’s summer semester and meet the needs of their students.

On his part, Bassam Murra Registration Manager at Abu Dhabi University explained the summer semester will run over a period of 6 weeks and will conclude on 9th of August, while examinations will be held from 14th to 16th August.
