The Professional Diploma is highly valued by ministry of education and schools. It offers a combination of the essential knowledge and skills that employers look for, including teamwork, self-management and critical thinking skills. Opportunities to experience different styles of learning in different environments such as school, college and the workplace, with an emphasis on practical activities and an integrated curriculum are the hallmarks of this Professional Diploma Program. The graduate of the program qualify to seek employment opportunities in the UAE’s government and private schools sectors.

The Aims of the Professional Diploma in Teaching

The Professional Diploma in teaching aims to:

  • Develop specific competency of teachers and administrators in different disciplines (e.g., Math, Science, English, Arabic, Social studies, Islamic studies),
  • Enhance teaching skills,
  • Provide experience of different teaching approaches and the learning opportunities
  • Improve the understanding of educational technology and its application in the classroom setting
  • Reflect critically on emerging trends and policies impacting school curriculum,
  • Demonstrate an understanding of students with special needs.

The Professional Diploma in Teaching (PGDT) is a new qualification that combines theoretical study with practical experience. The PGDT will provide students with an integrated program of study made up of different courses. The PGDT is a 24 credit-hours course for graduates who wish to pursue teaching opportunities. This diploma enables holders to teach in any government and private school. In addition, the qualification is required for employment as a teacher in many regional countries.

A variety of career opportunities available for the graduates of the program include:

  • Teachers of Arabic, Islamic Studies, Science, Mathematics, English, or related field.
  • Fresh graduates from non education fields,
  • School Principals,
  • Educational supervisors
  • Counselors,
  • Social workers
