• How can I improve my English?

At the same time, however, students need to make learning English a top priority and commit themselves to taking whatever steps are necessary to achieve their language goals.

  • From where does Abu Dhabi University hire their faculty and staff?‎

Our senior officers, faculty and staff come from all over the world. However, since ADU utilizes the ‎American ‎model of higher education, a large number of the faculty and senior staff have ‎American university degrees, ‎as well as experience in the United States, Canada, and the United ‎Kingdom.‎

  • What are the admission requirements for admission to ADU?‎

The Abu Dhabi University is a selective admissions institution. This means that the University will ‎accept only ‎students who have demonstrated that they have the academic preparation and ‎intellectual ability to perform ‎in a competitive academic environment. Our admission requirements ‎are posted on this ADU website, along ‎with the Application for Admission form. Under ‎extraordinary circumstances, the Admissions and Registration ‎Committee may grant conditional ‎admission to a small number of students who do not meet all of the ‎requirements for admission, ‎but such decisions will be made on a case by case basis. ADU does not conduct ‎admissions ‎interviews. The university can not accept all of the students who apply, so ADU will accept only the ‎‎number of students each term for which it can adequately provide academic and student support ‎services. ‎Students who do not meet the English language requirement may be admitted to ADU, ‎but will be required to ‎complete courses in the English Language Institute until they pass the ‎required competency examination(s).‎

  • Will graduate programs in the United States, Canada and other countries, recognize my ‎‎baccalaureate degree from ADU?‎

Admission into the postgraduate programs at ADU or any other college or university is determined ‎by the ‎graduate school and program of the particular institution on a case-by case basis. Graduate ‎schools in the UAE, ‎USA, Canada , UK and other countries consider the breadth and depth of a ‎student's undergraduate studies; the ‎relevance of their undergraduate studies to the desired ‎graduate program; the academic performance of ‎the applicant in his/her undergraduate ‎studies and on performance in standardized graduate school entrance examinations.‎ However, given that ADU is committed to offering only baccalaureate and master's degree ‎programs that are ‎licensed and accredited by the UAE Ministry of Education, ADU graduates should ‎be competitive in being ‎admitted into our own and other institutions' graduate programs anywhere ‎in the world (assuming the ‎student's final undergraduate academic GPA is 3.0 or higher both in ‎his/her major and overall).‎

  • Will I be able to transfer credits I earned at another college/university to ADU?‎

Students who have been admitted to ADU, as transfer students, should have official transcripts of ‎their prior ‎collegiate work sent directly to the ADU Office of Admissions and Registration for ‎evaluation by the University ‎Registrar (and Dean of the respective College) if they are seeking ‎credit for said work. Relevant freshman and ‎sophomore level credits earned with a grade of "C" or ‎higher from a UAE licensed college or university (or USA ‎‎"Regionally Accredited" college or ‎university) are likely to be applicable towards your ADU degree. However, ‎the University will review ‎all official transcripts submitted to it by students seeking to receive transfer credit. ‎In some cases, ‎the transcript will need to be attested by the Ministry of Education in order for transfer credit ‎to be ‎documented at ADU. Also, students should understand that each of the respective transferred ‎courses ‎must be evaluated to ensure that the course content and rigor are comparable to the ‎standards and ‎requirements of Abu Dhabi University before they will be considered as ‎equivalent to ADU classes - the ‎university does not provide a blanket acceptance of any transcript. ‎Course credits earned from other colleges ‎and universities will be evaluated on a case-by case ‎basis after a student is admitted and registered at ADU.‎
