  • What is the Abu Dhabi University mission?

    The mission of Abu Dhabi University is to offer highly rewarding career oriented undergraduate and graduate degree programs aligned with the needs of UAE and the region through excellence in teaching, student learning, faculty scholarship and engagement in community development.

  • Where is Abu Dhabi University?

    The University has two campuses, one in Abu Dhabi and another one in Al Ain. The Abu Dhabi campus is located in Khalifa City. The Al Ain campus is located in the Al Maqam area.

  • Who can attend Abu Dhabi University?

    Any qualified students, regardless of nationality, race, religion, color, gender is welcome to apply for admission at Abu Dhabi University.

  • What are the nationalities of students enrolled at Abu Dhabi University?

    Students at Abu Dhabi University come from different backgrounds and have different nationalities.

  • Will Abu Dhabi University help me to get a student visa since I am not a UAE national?

    Yes, students admitted to Abu Dhabi University will receive university assistance in securing the appropriate student visa.

At the same time, however, students need to make learning English a top priority and commit themselves to taking whatever steps are necessary to achieve their language goals.

  • Are the programs accredited?

    Yes, all the programs offered at Abu Dhabi University are accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

  • Will graduate programs in the United States, Canada and other countries, recognize my baccalaureate degree from Abu Dhabi University?

    Admission into the postgraduate programs at Abu Dhabi University or any other college or university is determined by the graduate school and program of the particular institution on a case-by case basis. Graduate schools in the UAE, USA, Canada , UK and other countries consider the breadth and depth of a student's undergraduate studies; the relevance of their undergraduate studies to the desired graduate program; the academic performance of the applicant in his/her undergraduate studies and on performance in standardized graduate school entrance examinations. However, given that Abu Dhabi University is committed to offering only baccalaureate and master's degree programs that are licensed and accredited by the UAE Ministry of Education, Abu Dhabi University graduates should be competitive in being admitted into our own and other institutions' graduate programs anywhere in the world (assuming the student's final undergraduate academic GPA is 3.0 or higher both in his/her major and overall).

  • From where does Abu Dhabi University hire their faculty and staff?

    Our senior officers, faculty and staff come from all over the world. However, since Abu Dhabi University utilizes the American model of higher education, a large number of the faculty and senior staff have American university degrees, as well as experience in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

  • What are the admission requirements for admission to Abu Dhabi University?

    The Abu Dhabi University is a selective admissions institution. This means that the University will accept only students who have demonstrated that they have the academic preparation and intellectual ability to perform in a competitive academic environment. Our admission requirements are posted on this Abu Dhabi University website, along with the Application for Admission form. Under extraordinary circumstances, the Admissions and Registration Committee may grant conditional admission to a small number of students who do not meet all of the requirements for admission, but such decisions will be made on a case by case basis. Abu Dhabi University does not conduct admissions interviews. The university can not accept all of the students who apply, so Abu Dhabi University will accept only the number of students each term for which it can adequately provide academic and student support services. Students who do not meet the English language requirement may be admitted to Abu Dhabi University, but will be required to complete courses in the English Language Institute until they pass the required competency examination(s).

  • Will I be able to transfer credits I earned at another college/university to Abu Dhabi University?

    Students who have been admitted to Abu Dhabi University, as transfer students, should have official transcripts of their prior collegiate work sent directly to the Abu Dhabi University Office of Admissions and Registration for evaluation by the University Registrar (and Dean of the respective College) if they are seeking credit for said work. Relevant freshman and sophomore level credits earned with a grade of "C" or higher from a UAE licensed college or university (or USA "Regionally Accredited" college or university) are likely to be applicable towards your Abu Dhabi University degree. However, the University will review all official transcripts submitted to it by students seeking to receive transfer credit. In some cases, the transcript will need to be attested by the Ministry of Education in order for transfer credit to be documented at Abu Dhabi University. Also, students should understand that each of the respective transferred courses must be evaluated to ensure that the course content and rigor are comparable to the standards and requirements of Abu Dhabi University before they will be considered as equivalent to Abu Dhabi University classes - the university does not provide a blanket acceptance of any transcript. Course credits earned from other colleges and universities will be evaluated on a case-by case basis after a student is admitted and registered at Abu Dhabi University.

  • During which semester can I join Abu Dhabi University? May I attend part-time?

    New students may begin at Abu Dhabi University at the start of any semester (Fall, Spring, Summer A, Summer B or Winter), either full-time or part-time, but must have been admitted by the admission deadline for that given semester.

  • What is the language of classroom instruction? Do you have classes to help students learn English?

    Most of the classes at Abu Dhabi University are taught in English, at this time. In the future, we intend to add some additional programs utilizing the Arabic language. Yes, Abu Dhabi University has an ENGLISH LANGUAGE INSTITUTE that teaches all levels of English.

  • Can I just take English classes?

    Yes, It is possible to join Abu Dhabi University just to improve your English skills.

    Yes, Abu Dhabi University provides local transportation to and from the University and other locations in and around ‎Abu Dhabi ‎and Al Ain.‎

  • Where can I purchase the required textbooks for my classes?

    The University Bookshop carries a full supply of new and used textbooks.‎‎

Accreditation

  • Is Abu Dhabi university accredited in the UAE?

    Abu Dhabi University is licensed by the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and all of its degree programs have received accreditation by the Ministry.

  • Will my degree be accredited regionally?

    The University is accredited across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jordan, Syria, Turkey and Iran, and all its degree programs are recognized by the various Ministries of Education in these countries.

  • What international accreditation have the university received?

    • WASC which accredits the university as an institution.
    • ABET accreditation for four engineering program at the college of Engineering the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, the Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
    • AACSB accreditation for College of Business Administration.

  • What does WASC stand for and why is it important to me as a student, alumni or future graduate?

    WASC stands for “Western Association of Schools and Colleges: Senior College and University Commission -WSCUC. WSCUC is the highest form of accreditation available in the USA, and accredits such prestigious institutions as Stanford University, California Institute of Technology, California Polytechnic State University, and the California State University system.

  • As a student, alumni or future graduate of ADU, why is this important?

    • Your international employability prospects have increased significantly as you are now a future graduate of a WSCUC accredited university. 
    • The WSCUC accreditation is not specific to any one college or degree; it is institutional. This means that current and future ADU students can say proudly that their degree is WSCUC accredited.
    • Your ADU degree is now internationally recognized and transferrable.
     

  • Is WASC accreditation specific to one college or degree?

    No. WASC is not specific to any one college or degree; it is institutional. This means that current and future ADU students can say proudly that their degree is WSCUC accredited. This accreditation is a clear testament to the quality of ADU education that gives our Alumni and future graduates world-wide recognition and global mobility enabling them to reach their career ambitions in the corporate community or higher education. It is the highest form of accreditation available in the USA, and accredits such prestigious institutions as Stanford University, California Institute of Technology, California Polytechnic State University, and the California State University system.

  • What does ABET Stand for and why is it important to me as a student?

    ABET stands for the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology which is an international accreditation of the world-renowned Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET. The College of Engineering received this international accreditation for four of its engineering programs: the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, the Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

  • As a student graduating from an ABET-accredited program, why difference does it make?

    AACSB stands for the “Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business”; the global accrediting body for business schools offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The College of Business Administration was awarded the international accreditation for its commitment in achieving standards that require a high quality teaching environment, active engagement with the industry and innovative programs.

  • As a business student, why is this important?

    • You will graduate from a college among the niche rank of the “Top Business Schools”, an honor bestowed on less than 5% of the world’s business programs. 
    • This accreditation gives you world-wide recognition and global mobility enabling you to reach your career ambitions in the corporate community or higher education.
