Director of Research and Sponsored Programs, Professor of Computer Science and Information Technology
Professor Ashraf Khalil, Director of Research and Computer Science and Information Technology faculty at Abu Dhabi University (ADU) since 2014, supports the production of quality research that benefits local economic development, promotes international collaboration, and establishes industry partnerships. Under his leadership, Scopus publications from ADU faculty have increased by 35% annually. The annual GCC-wide Undergraduate Research Competition, one of the largest research events in the UAE targeting undergraduate students, is the brain-child of Professor Khalil.
With a PhD in Computer Science from Indiana University, USA, Professor Khalil’s own research has been published in leading conferences globally and his work has been featured extensively in local and international media. Specializing in developing and applying usability testing techniques to mobile applications, his interest lies in applying diverse technological innovations to problem solving.
In recognition of his valuable enhancements to the research infrastructure, his contribution to ADU achieving WASC, EQUIS, AACSB and ABET accreditations, and his determination to establish excellence within the institution, Professor Khalil is the proud recipient of the Abu Dhabi University Ambassador Award, the Leadership Award, and the Abu Dhabi University Service Award.
