Professor Wassim Almawi is the Dean of Abu Dhabi University’s College of Health Sciences, and Adjunct Professor at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Medicine. He has held academic positions in seven countries and leadership positions at Arabian Gulf University, Bahrain, and Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan.
With a PhD from Dalhousie University, Canada, and postdoctoral training with the University of British Columbia, Canada, and Harvard Medical School, USA, Professor Almawi has a rich research background, with almost 300 research papers published. He has mentored postgraduate students and research fellows and played a crucial role in establishing research groups and research centers. As a strong advocate for medical education, in particular education methodologies, he helped develop innovative models of interdisciplinary education and assessment methods.
Professor Almawi holds several memberships in professional societies and acts as associate editor in international journals. His main goal is to make the College of Health Sciences number one in the UAE through the integration of competent teaching, state-of-the-art research, and community outreach.
