    The College of Law (COL) offers a Bachelor Degree Program and two Master’s Degree Programs. The Graduate Programs are the Master in Public Law, and the Master in Private Law.










    The College of Law seeks to achieve the following objectives:

    • Define programs and teaching methods in accordance with the circumstances of the Emirian society in particular and the Arab society in general in order to serve the region's needs and aspirations and prepare the students to meet the requirements and challenges of the job market.
    • Adherence to the international accreditation and quality assurance regulations and criteria to guarantee consistency in the performance of the College in the field of law, and the students’ rights to obtain an internationally recognized degree to allow them to join the varied and competitive job market.
    • Although teaching is mainly conducted in Arabic, some courses should be delivered in English so as to meet the requirements of the job market, as several legal professions and functions require the use of English Language.
    • Ensure that students acquire science, knowledge and skills through varying the teaching methods and approaches to include theoretical classes and practical training on legal issues in the form of workshops, seminars, debates, moot courts and arbitration, and legal clinic.
    The College of Law is in process of finalizing its academic and administrative structure. It provides its best endeavors to enroll the most qualified Faculties in each of the Law disciplines, and thus in view of covering the teaching needs in any of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain campuses.

    The College shall, therefore, diversify its programs, especially Graduate ones in light of the fields of excellence defined for the College.

    There are two fundamental Majors at the College of Law: Public Law and Private Law.

    Public Law: It includes the following specific specializations:

    • Constitutional Law
    • Administrative Law
    • Penal Law
    • International Public Law
    • Financial Law (Economics, Public Finance, and Tax Legislations)

    Private Law: It includes the following specific specializations:

    • Islamic Law
    • Civil Law
    • Commercial Law (Commercial, Maritime & Air Law)
    • Civil Procedures Law
    • International Private Law
  • Programs Offered

    The Bachelor of Law

    The Bachelor of Law is the unique Undergraduate Program offered by the College of Law till now. The Bachelor initiated with a total number of 129 credits and was accredited by both CAA and WASC. Then, the necessity of augmenting the General Education Credit Hours to 30 credits instead of 21, leaded to a raise of the total number of credits to 132 credits, to be applied to the new enrolled students in Fall 2016-2017, whereas the returning students shall continue to be subject to the original study plan till graduation.

    The Bachelor of Law is formed, besides the 30 credits of General Education Courses, of 93 credits of Major Requirements and 9 credits of Major Electives. There are courses intended to ensure that students acquire professional skills as for Internal Internship, External Internship, and Graduation Research. Some units shall be created in order to develop the professional education of students as for the Legal Clinic and the Centre for Legal Services at the College.

    The Master in Public Law

    The Master of Public Law focalizes on the study of all branches of Public Law in Depth. The Master is appropriate to all persons acting as Public Officers or Representatives of the State.

    The total number of credit hours is 33, as follows:

    • 18 credits for Major Requirements
    • 6 credits for Major Electives
    • 9 credits for the Master Thesis which is subject to Public Defense.

    The Master in Private Law

    The Master in Private Law focalizes on the study of all branches of Private Law in Depth. The Master is appropriate to all persons whose professions are in Business and the different economic sectors of activities.

    The total number of credit hours is 33, as follows:

    • 18 credits for Major Requirements
    • 6 credits for Major Electives
    • 9 credits for the Master Thesis which is subject to Public Defense.
