  • About Military Program

    Academic programs for military colleges are considered a model of cooperation between academic institutions and the UAE Armed Forces; they are created to support three strategic objectives:

    • Development of high-quality academic curricula with a refined level of professionalism in the field of military and civil science.
    • Preparation of well-qualified individuals to serve the UAE Armed Forces, armed with skills of analysis and planning and the ability to solve problems; which will help them to deal successfully with the challenges of national defense in the 21st century.
    • Commitment to the highest international standards of scientific quality and educational outcomes.

    UAE Armed Forces General Headquarters (GHQ) and Abu Dhabi University (ADU) – according to the scientific collaboration agreement between them - abide to meet the current and future educational needs of UAE Armed Forces to strengthen and vitalize them. We guarantee this outcome through accredited academic curriculum, highly efficient teaching members with refined qualifications, formal evaluations of the students’ learning results, and continuous improvement of the quality of programs.

    Abu Dhabi University realizes that this is a great national educational mission that has the top priority among the services that university has to offer to society; for this end, The University has employed its resources and capabilities to meet the educational requirements and fulfill aspirations of the Armed Forces. A joint taskforce of the university and the Armed Forces GHQ was formed to launch academic programs targeting officer-cadets and officers of the UAE Armed Forces. The outcome was the development of an educational system that meets these standards and that grants officer-cadets and officers of the Armed Forces the following accredited undergraduate and graduate degrees:

    • BA of Military Sciences and Administration (131 Credit Hours).
    • Master of Human Resources Management (33 Credit Hours).
    • Bachelor of Military Science and Specialized Management (135 Credit Hours).

    The formal inauguration has begun in 2010-2011 and since then the joint taskforce has carried on with its efforts to prepare new academic programs. This project is a unique and pioneering experience not only on the national level but on the level of Arab world as a whole. It’s an experience that proves that development requires good academic foundations and shows that the University is always keen to serve the community. The union between different various civil and military experiences is a core principle for the improvement of the military education system. After all, we all work together to build our nation.

    The initiative of establishing academic programs for military colleges is an innovative and outstanding project that is formulated on a number of grounds:

    • Starting from a reality of particular requirements and aspirations: UAE Armed Forces is aspiring to develop their own educational institutions, accordingly came the idea of ​​establishing such programs to achieve that ambition.
    • Military specialty is similar to civil specialty in academic education: It is based on scientific methods, it has an educational and pedagogical vision, and it implements modern educational tools and methods to meet quality standards and achieve desired academic objectives and outcomes.
    • Convergence of professionals with different academic backgrounds is the key to have new creative results: Various experts and professionals who are professors, experts and military teachers have planned, prepared and implemented these programs.

    Leadership and Uniqueness have been the basic characteristics of these programs, and continue to characterize their implementation, Where:

    • There are a variety of the military, civil and military-civil courses.
    • Highly qualified professors and military experts carry out the teaching and the training in the programs.
    • Teaching methods varies between: Lectures, extra-curricular readings, seminars, research projects, practical training in the Armed Forces fields and field visits in the state and abroad.
    • The organizers of the programs utilize University and military colleges’ classrooms, libraries, laboratories and training fields which are equipped with modern teaching, training and technological aids. They recruit all this in order to achieve the programs objectives and their educational outcomes.

    Based on this, our mission is to provide the UAE Armed Forces with outstanding graduates who are highly qualified and equipped with leadership and excellence that enable them to:

    • Utilize concepts, tools and scientific methods in order to perform assigned tasks.
    • Conduct research and studies related to their fields of specialization.
    • Adopt scientific analysis, strategic planning and creative thinking.
    • Deal with professional and personal problems and find optimal solutions.
    • Cooperate with each other in a team spirit.
    • Continue self-learning and develop personal capabilities.

    All workers in these programs, from professors and administrators, believe in their message and are full of determination and insistence on achieving this message of leadership and excellence.
