Abu Dhabi University Organizes Mother of the Nation in Collaboration with Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council

As part of ADU Year of Zayed Strategy, Abu Dhabi University, in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Business Women Council, organized the Mother of the Nation event under the theme of “Unlimited Giving” as well as a forum on the role of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan may god rest his soul in peace in empowering women. The forum highlighted a number of papers on women's entrepreneurship since the inception with the Union and the pioneering role of the late Sheikh Zayed, may God rest his soul, in laying the foundation for a business environment that enables women to contribute to the advancement of national development.

 

The event was attended by H.E Reed Hamad Al Dhaheri - Executive Committee Member, Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council, H.E Huda Al Matroushi, Board of Member of Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council and H.E Shafeeqa Al Ameri- Director of Abu Dhabi Business Women Council as well as Dr. Sherine Farouk, Assistant provost for academic programs at Abu Dhabi University and several leading female , businesswomen and academicians.

 

Dr. Sherine said “The late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan may god rest his soul in peace presented a unique example in creating an environment that empowered women to be entrepreneurs by encouraging them to engage in education, work and family care, and to combine these roles to enhance the capacity and competence of Emirati women so that they could launch their own start-ups. Our wise leadership carries on with empowering women in all fields. Women are also greatly supported and encouraged by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood. All of this has made Emirati women a unique model of success on the Arab and international levels. Today, we have over 21,000 businesswomen in the country.”

 

Her Excellency Mariam Mohamed Al Rumaithi, Chairwoman of the Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council, said: “This event translates the mission of the Council in supporting women and providing them with all the necessary means to be creative and successful as business leaders, stressing the pioneering role of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and her great attention to empowering Emirati women in various sectors. Today we see Emirati women assume various leadership positions in the country and a partner in the achievement of our national goals.

 

The event included a number of panel discussions on the impact of the support provided by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God bless him and grant him peace, since the foundation of the Union, to Emirati women and encouraging them to join men in the fields of work and achievement. The participants stressed that this great support was behind the acceleration of the development of the UAE and the realization of major achievements during record time. The event saw wide participation from the audience, including students of Abu Dhabi University.
