ADU’s Electrical and Computer Engineering Department (ECE) in the College of Engineering celebrated the end of a successful Fall Semester by announcing the winners of the Annual Sumo Robot Design Competition. The competition is designed to give students the opportunity to showcase their skills in designing and programming, as well as fulfill the project requirements of the Microprocessors and Firmware Programming course taught by Dr. Ghazal.

This year 16 teams of male and female students competed against each other to design, implement, and program mini sumo robots. The challenge was to design a robot capable of pushing competing robots out of a 2x2 meter arena whilst following safety regulations. The competition took place on the 29 November and, for the second year in a row, the students produced remarkable designs and demonstrated excellent teamwork. Husam Al-Sakaji, Mohammed Zourob, and Shynggyskhan Kanat were awarded first place among the male students, and Salma Bauomy, Reem Ballaith, and Israa Masud took first place in the female category.
