The rapidly growing media industry requires graduates who understand both the theory and practice of mass communication. This innovative media-based program will allow you to develop specialist knowledge of the concepts, theories, practices and methods that characterize contemporary media and communication and help you thrive in the industry. It will enable you to develop a critical understanding of the key developments within the mass communication industry globally, including new media technology, media production skills, news reporting, public relations techniques, media campaigns and advertising.
You will be equipped with essential media research and analysis skills as well as the ability to write media reports and features for print and electronic media. In-depth study into the role and impact of mass media in the Middle East will enable you to effectively deal with a myriad of on-going communication challenges at a local and regional level, as well as globally.
The program’s unique structure allows you to tailor your interest in media toward a particular career route. You can choose to specialize in Public Relations & Advertising, Radio & Television, or Journalism. Students from other disciplines can choose to study mass communication as a minor program (subject to approval).
Two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) provide excellent opportunities for students to pursue exchange programs in our partner universities: our MoU with East Carolina University, USA, paves the way for student and faculty exchanges, research collaboration and program partnerships, and an MoU signed with the National Media Council provides educational and training opportunities for our students.

Along with my studies, I enhanced my experience with a range of extra-curricular activities. I worked as a student prefect helping Admissions settle in new students. I made videos for social media and supervised media projects from inception to implementation in collaboration with the University’s Marketing department.
All this extra effort paid off when I was selected by the National Media Council to be one of 12 members of the Youth Media Council 2018-2020 – out of a pool of 153 candidates. This is truly a great honour and I thank ADU for leading me to this moment.”
Tuition is based upon the College and/or Department classification as opposed to the course classification or level. Tuition rates for undergraduate students vary from the tuition rates for graduate students.
The tuition fee calculations are an example only and are based on the assumption that elective courses will be taken with the College that the student is taking their major with. However, if the student selects elective courses outside of this College, the total cost payable may increase or decrease to reflect the tuition rate of the College where the elective is delivered.
Costs of books and supplies are not included in the Tuition and Fees. Students at Abu Dhabi University are also required to pay certain fees and other costs to attend the University. Abu Dhabi University reserves the right to change tuition and fee rates at any time. A tuition schedule is published prior to registration for each semester.
