Dr. Asiya Nazir

Division Team Lead, Senior Instructor, Biochemistry, College of Health Sciences

Dr. Asiya Nazir holds a Ph.D. in Life Sciences and a master’s degree in biotechnology, with over 13 years of experience in Applied Sciences. Her research focuses on the genetic characterization of fungi and bacteria, metagenomics, and the isolation of anticancer biomolecules from endophytes. She has made notable contributions to the study of cellulase enzymes, including their isolation, characterization, and purification, and has published widely in reputable journals.

Dr. Nazir has secured numerous grants for her projects, published articles in reputable journals, and is an author and editor for books. She has collaborated with leading institutions, including the UAE University, Sharjah University, and globally ranked universities.

Alongside her research, Dr. Nazir is an accomplished educator, known for hands-on and field-based courses and student mentorship. Her contributions to higher education have earned her a fellowship from the Higher Education Academy, underscoring her dedication to advancing knowledge in life sciences.
