Dr. Wael Said Abdrabou

Multi-omics Lead, Assistant Professor, College of Health Sciences

Dr. Wael Abdrabou is an Assistant Professor in the College of Health Sciences at Abu Dhabi University. He specializes in leveraging integrative metabolomics, multi-omics, and computational biology frameworks to better understand the molecular mechanisms underlying human variability in immune response during aging and disease.

His research focuses on the dynamic relationship between metabolism, nutrition, and immune system reprogramming over time, with the aim of identifying potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets for infection susceptibility and age-related immune dysregulation.

Dr. Abdrabou earned his Ph.D. in Systems Biology from New York University as a recipient of the prestigious NYU Global PhD Fellowship. Following his doctoral studies, he completed his postdoctoral training at New York University Abu Dhabi, where he explored metabolic disturbances and associated gene transcriptional events during immune responses contributing to advancements in our understanding of infectious disease pathogenesis.

He has led and collaborated on numerous projects with leading institutions across the USA, UAE, Africa, the UK, and India. These initiatives have focused on the interconnection between metabolic and genetic regulation in the context of infectious diseases, cancer, and cardiovascular disorders.

Dr. Abdrabou's work has been published in leading journals, including Nature Metabolism, Nature Communications, Journal of Infection, and Scientific Reports.
