Dr. Sarika Sharma, Ph.D. is a Professor of Microbiology at the School of Biosciences and Bioengineering, Lovely Professional University (LPU), Punjab, India, with over 15 years of experience in research, teaching, and academic administration. She specializes in metagenomics, antimicrobial research, endophytes, molecular biology, and the exploration of bioactive compounds from medicinal plants for human health.
Dr. Sharma earned her Ph.D. in Microbiology from IIIM-CSIR (Jammu), India. Her research expertise includes innovative methodologies for DNA isolation from environmental samples, construction and screening of soil metagenomic libraries, phylogenetic characterization of microbial diversity, and biocatalyst development. At Lovely Professional University (India), Dr. Sharma holds a key administrative role in the Department of Sponsored Research, where she facilitates research grants and fosters academic collaborations. She successfully secured major research grants, including a ₹6.2 Crore Institutional Development Grant from the Ministry of Textiles, India, and supported projects funded by DST, SERB, ICSSR, and DBT. Driven by a passion for interdisciplinary collaboration, institutional development, and impactful research, Dr. Sharma is committed to advancing scientific knowledge and nurturing the next generation of scientists for societal benefit.
