The photo-thermal based seawater desalination system is an integrated system consisting of three major units: the Solar concentrator with its evaporator, the Condenser, and the Rectifier. The Solar Concentrator focuses incident solar radiation onto a focal point, concentrating the energy and increasing its heating capability. The seawater, passing through this focal point in a pipe absorbs a part of the generated heat and begins to evaporate. The evaporation process produces a mixture of vapor and salty liquid within the heating pipe. This two-phase fluid flows to a rectifier, which separates the vapor and directs it to a condenser. The condensed fresh water is collected, while the remaining salty liquid is returned to the reservoir. These processes occur simultaneously in real time, enabling continuous desalination.

The purpose of this grant is to strengthen research capabilities at Abu Dhabi University. The grant provides funding for research projects that will elevate Abu Dhabi University’s reputation as a key UAE research institution.
The recipients of the Research Incentive Grant will be expected to publish the results of their work in a refereed journal/conference proceeding and to participate in ADU’s research conference.

Completed applications should be submitted to the ORSP office.
At ADU, we are committed to supporting faculty research that aligns with our strategic priorities. To achieve this, we offer the Internal Faculty Research Funding Program, which operates within the framework of faculty development.
