Dr. Patrick Johanns is an Associate Professor of Instruction in Business Analytics at the University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business and a Provost AI Fellow. He is a coauthor of AI in Business: Creating Value Responsibly, published by McGraw Hill in 2026, which explores how organizations can create value with AI while addressing its ethical and societal challenges. His teaching and professional work focus on artificial intelligence, business analytics, and preparing students for an increasingly AI-enabled workplace. In his role as a Provost AI Fellow, he helps the University of Iowa responsibly and effectively incorporate AI into university operations and curricula. Johanns has taught undergraduate, MBA, and graduate students in the United States, Australia, Germany, and Hong Kong and has participated in educational and entrepreneurial initiatives in Kenya. He regularly speaks with academic, business, and community audiences about AI, education, and the changing nature of work.
