ADU Awards Schools in Al Ain STEM Competition
Abu Dhabi University (ADU) has awarded the top three teams in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) competition held at the University’s Al Ain Campus. Organized by the campus Director’s Office, the competition brought together students from public and private schools in Al Ain to engage in a series of thought-provoking challenges.

Over 460 students from 27 high schools participated in the STEM competition. Contestants were divided into groups of three, led by supervisors from their schools, and were invited to brainstorm practical solutions. Aimed at building teamwork and leadership skills, the competition put their knowledge to the test through a set of challenging mathematical, science, technology, and engineering questions that contestants were required to answer within a time limit.
Dr Mohammad Fteiha, Acting Director of ADU's Al Ain campus, commented, “We are delighted to honor the winners from the STEM competition - they have displayed impressive potential and teamwork skills. This competition is designed to help school students gain important skills using problem-solving methods and practical applications of theories, as well as creativity.”
Dr Fteiha added, “In today’s digitally driven and fast-evolving world, there is a growing demand for young innovators, thinkers, and scientists who can lead the nation’s transformational change as it shifts towards a knowledge-based economy. ADU aims to engage and inspire the next generation of scientists by showcasing the relevant application of skills that will encourage more students to pursue STEM careers. ADU continues to provide high school students with the opportunity to get a firsthand look into the University student experience.
First place went to Aesha Saleh, Ali Al Mheiri, and Nada Fayez representing Al Dhafra School. Shima Macen, Mahmoud Khalid, and Ben Sabastian from Our Own English High School took second place, and third place was awarded to Amira Ayman, Arwa Alzaydiya, and Alyazya Al Ahbabi from Um Al Emarat School. The winners were presented with trophies, certificates, and cash prizes in a special ceremony held at Abu Dhabi University’s Al Ain campus.
ADU currently has over 7,600 registered students across its four campuses - Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai and Al Dhafra Region - representing over 82 different nationalities enrolled in 44 undergraduate and postgraduate programs, all with global academic accreditation. ADU is investing AED 300 million in its new Al Ain campus which will double its capacity as it expects to welcome more students over the few next years. The new purpose-built campus, located in Al Ain’s Asharej district, will include more than 70 lecture halls and scientific laboratories, 137 offices for staff and faculty, a moot courtroom, 36 classrooms, state-of-the-art scientific equipment that meets international quality standards and a wide variety of facilities such as a gymnasium, aerobics studio, games room and cafeteria.
