UAE Innovation Month was a great success for Abu Dhabi University. Five teams of electrical and computer engineering students from Abu Dhabi and Al Ain were shortlisted to participate in the Dubai Maker Faire 2019, the world's largest gathering of manufacturers and innovators. They were tasked with designing and developing a smart system in just three days, competing against 20+ teams from local and regional universities. Suha Hasan and Ayesha Mohammed, supervised by Dr. Ghazal, brought home a major victory winning second place and AED 10,000 for their ‘Quench Your Thirst’ project. The other ADU projects – ‘IoT Personal Trainer’, ‘Embedded Fatigue Detection’, and ‘Smart Weather Station’ - were showcased in front of 1000+ national and international visitors.

The event was held under the patronage of the Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation and the ADU teams were later contacted by the Foundation to offer them support in continuing work on their projects.
