Interior design is a multifaceted discipline which has a fundamental effect on our everyday lives. Whether it is where we work, shop, live or spend our leisure time, our surroundings greatly influence our sense of well-being and it is the role of the interior designer to create healthy, functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces from conceptual development through to execution of the design.
Under the umbrella of the Bachelor in Architecture in the College of Engineering, you will receive an in-depth education that will help you develop the knowledge and creative skills necessary to add real value as an interior designer. The program combines both aesthetics and technology, such as computer aided design (CAD) and 3-D computer modelling, to help you create remarkable indoor environments.
You will learn to prepare a comprehensive program for an interior design project which will include an assessment of client and user needs and critical review of appropriate precedents. This will entail technical elements including inventory of space requirements, analysis of site conditions, and review of relevant safety provisions, codes, laws and standards, as well as creative elements such as integrating lighting, color schemes and furniture.
“We’re really making our mark and are viewed as industry professionals.”
"When ADU recruiters came to my school I signed up on the spot. I loved the fact that I could study in Al Ain close to home. Initially, I was studying English Literature. However, during my foundation year I came across the interior design projects and, after meeting the students and faculty, I switched my major. It was the best decision I have ever made as I found my passion.
The pace of change over the last three years has been amazing and the professional reputation of the interior design students has increased dramatically due to the efforts of the professors. We’re really making our mark and are viewed as professionals in the industry, frequently being invited to showcase our work alongside the big names in the industry at INDEX Dubai, the Big 5, the Hotel Show and Dubai Design Week."
Tuition is based upon the College and/or Department classification as opposed to the course classification or level. Tuition rates for undergraduate students vary from the tuition rates for graduate students.
The tuition fee calculations are an example only and are based on the assumption that elective courses will be taken with the College that the student is taking their major with. However, if the student selects elective courses outside of this College, the total cost payable may increase or decrease to reflect the tuition rate of the College where the elective is delivered.
Costs of books and supplies are not included in the Tuition and Fees. Students at Abu Dhabi University are also required to pay certain fees and other costs to attend the University. Abu Dhabi University reserves the right to change tuition and fee rates at any time. A tuition schedule is published prior to registration for each semester.
