About our College of Health Sciences
The College of Health Sciences is home to undergraduate programs in Public Health and Environmental Health and Safety, Biomedical Sciences (Laboratory Medicine), Molecular and Medical Genetics, and Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
The collective educational mission of the health sciences programs is to provide students with a broad and flexible multidisciplinary curriculum, producing graduates equipped with both theoretical and practical knowledge related to their chosen program, as well as scientific and technical knowledge more generally. They will have the ability to analyse, evaluate, and communicate effectively with patients, their families, and fellow professionals, receive opportunities to conduct undergraduate and postgraduate research and acquire an understanding of, and appreciation for, global and societal issues, preparing them not only for a career in the health sciences but also leadership roles in the field of medicine.
Our programs come under the broad umbrella of ‘Allied Health Professions’. Some are predominately laboratory pathology, while others are more patient-facing. All are in high demand in the UAE. We have Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with SEHA, VPS Healthcare (Burjeel), Cleveland Clinic, Mediclinic, National Rehabilitation Center, Universal Hospital, Gulf Diagnostic Center, Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Ports, ADVETI (Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institute), CAMFIL (Indoor Air Quality), Ittihad Paper Mill, Abu Dhabi Public Health Center, Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center, etc. We also have close collaborations with OSHAD (Abu Dhabi Occupational Safety and Health Center) and ADFCA (Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority). Adding to that, we have MOUs with Universities in Canada and USA such as University of Toronto, University of Dalhousie, and University of Arizona.
