Background Information

The College of Arts and Sciences announces the 2nd Annual National Speaking Competition and Debate Competition. Open to Undergraduate University students across the United Arab Emirates, this is your opportunity to debate with fellow student teams, deliver passionate speeches on topics important to you and test your ability to influence and convince others of ideas you believe in.

The theme of this year's competition is Voices of Leadership, Strength of Community - an inspiring theme spanning social, cultural, educational, and ethical perspectives, offering students a unique opportunity to explore how leadership and community together shape a stronger and more connected future.

Categories

You may participate in the following categories:

  • Debate in English: Argue your case and convince judges of your reasoning, logic and ideas!
  • Original Oratory in English: Deliver speeches prepared on a topic of your choice around the theme of Sustainability!
  • Original Oratory in Arabic: Deliver speeches prepared on a topic of your choice around the theme of Sustainability!
  • Impromptu Speech in English: Prepare and deliver a speech on a topic provided. Test your ability to think on your feet and excite and convince your audience!
  • Impromptu Speech in Arabic: Prepare and deliver a speech on a topic provided. Test your ability to think on your feet and excite and convince your audience!

  • Enhance students' public speaking skills and confidence.
  • Foster a culture of academic excellence and intellectual exchange.
  • Develop your skills in argument, logic, and on-the-spot intellectual exchange.
